The Ashmolean, Britain's oldest public museum, has one of the finest collections of ceramics in the world.

Now the Museum has launched an ambitious and pioneering project for the twenty-first century - PotWeb - to create an online catalogue of the entire ceramic collection.

When fully developed the online catalogue will be extensively illustrated and supported by a computerised database, bringing together the fruits of one hundred and fifty years of historical and archaeological research.

Together these resources will form the basis of a wider interactive educational package with supporting resource packs. A new interactive facility will also be made available within the Museum for visitors and researchers.
