- Description: Moulded water dropper in the shape of a duck. Mandarin drake with an open mouth, and a hole in back of his head. Imaginatively painted in strong red, blue, green and yellow enamels. Flat biscuit base with cloth impressions.
There is a pair of mandarin ducks at Clandon Park (National Trust), collection of Mrs Gubbay, of larger size than this; the female is suitably drab, though the males are not accurately coloured (see Porcelain for Palaces, 1990, pl. 171). A drake of the same size and decoration as this is in the collection of Imaizumi Imaemon in Arita.
