The Collectors: Robert Plot | |
Robert Plot, scientist and first custodian of the Old Ashmolean Museum, the oldest public museum in Britain. He represented a continuum of the ideals of the Renaissance, which emphasised the potential of the individual and this life. His surveys, The Natural History of Oxford-shire and The Natural History of Stafford-shire are still indispensable sources for modern day scholars. |
