- Description: Jug. Baluster form, waisted, high square foot, elaborately moulded spout and handle of square section. Spout, handle and waist modelled with lambrequins and tassels in relief.Design imitates European Baroque metal shape. Red, pink and green enamels with gold. Body and handle covered all over with pink and gold flowers, birds and millet sprays with details in red. Moulding picked out in green and red.
The shape seems to derive closely from contemporary Dutch Baroque silver; an example which is particularly close, a jug by Reynier Boldijn, 1736, in the Historisch Museum, Amsterdam, is illustrated by Vickers, Impey and Allan, 1986, pl. 58.
