  • The Project Director is Arthur MacGregor. Arthur read prehistoric archaeology at the University of Edinburgh and gained a D Litt from the University of Durham. He was assistant director at the York Archaeological Trust before joining the Ashmolean.
    His is a past Director of the Society of Antiquaries. His many publications include The Origins of Museums, Sir Hans Sloane, and Tradescant's Rarities, together with catalogues of the Ashmolean's Anglo-Saxon collections and Migration Period antiquities and historic archives. He is co-editor of the Journal of the History of Collections and of the Cassiano da Pozzo publication project (Royal Library, Windsor Castle).

  • Information Technology expertise is supplied by the Museum's IT Manager, Jonathan Moffett. Jonathan originally trained as an archaeologist, but specialised in computer applications in archaeology gaining a PhD at the Institute of Archaeology, London before coming to the Ashmolean in 1986. At the Ashmolean he has been responsible for overseeing the implementation of Information Technology into Britain's oldest public museum, and began developing the Museum's web site in 1995. He co-edited Computing for Archaeologists, back in 1991 (when things were a lot simpler).
  • The project photographer was Jeremy Haslam, until 2004, when a donation form the Laing Family Trust provided the means of purchasing digital photographic equipment, enabling photography to be carried out in-house from now on.

  • Other day-to-day work on the project is carried out by a small team of dedicated volunteers who work on a part-time basis.
